Von Nickell of Marshall, age 84, died Sunday morning, January 23, in Vermillion County Hospital at Clinton. He was born in Parke County, September 7, 1898, the son of Sydney E. and Lizzie Ellen Myers Nickell. April 30, 1921, he married Ayliffe Thompson, who died December 25, 1980.

  Nickell was a member of Wolf Creek Church and a veteran of World War I. He was a 50-year member and past master of Wallace Masonic Lodge, a 50-year member and past patron of Wallace OES and a past royal patron of Amaranth.

  Surviving are a son, Richard of Fort Wayne; a sister, Vida Mitchell of Wallace; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A daughter, Betty Rose Redmaster, died in 1968.

  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Marshall Baptist Church with Rev. dean Bowman officiating. Burial was in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Masonic memorial rites were held Monday night at Rice Funeral Home in Marshall. – thanks to S
